It can be daunting when you are just starting out in Internet Marketing and blogging. Trying to earn that first payoff, you will often feel like a fish out of water. Most of the statistics show that bloggers do not last beyond their first month, much less 3 months. I would dare to wager that many Internet Marketers go the same way.
The most common sentiment I see when scouring the Internet is that beginners do not see much results within their first few weeks and want to give up. Along with the hype propagated by many prominent authorities in this industry, many fail to recognise the online home business niche as an intensely competitive niche. The reality is that you have to work your butt off in establishing yourself. Anything less would leave you exasperated and throwing up your arms in despair.
For those who do put their heads down and soldier on, there are also no shortage of occasions when they would feel suffocated by the amount of effort required in the beginning, with the relative lack of results. These are the times when the system filters out the thumb twiddlers from the truly resilient. The ones who are determined to achieve success search the depths of their emotions and lives for motivation. For without an ability to keep the engine running, they will be hard-pressed to find an incentive to keep going amidst the difficult times.
What are some of the ways you can adopt to strive on, when motivation levels are low?
1. Be stubborn, be persistent
This is my No. 1 method due to my nature. Not being the most talented or smartest guy around, what I lack in ability, I more than make up in stubborn persistence. Practising this also helps me in ‘zoning out’ any negative vibes or results that I might face. It allows me to quickly concentrate on tasks at hand and working on methods to improve, instead of wallowing in self pity and things to blame on for my failures. I do subscribe to allowing yourself to be disappointed, but not for too long. I use it more as a fuel for further advancements in subsequent results.
2. Build your self-help support network
There are times when you just cannot do everything yourself. If you have a close network of friends with the same objectives in life, go to them for inspiration. Chances are, not all of you will be facing obstacles at the same time, so encouragement from just one of them could be a life-saver. Turning things around, helping to pick someone up can also do wonders to your motivation levels. One naturally feels good when helping another.
3. Get away from it all - for now
Many people give up when the pressure of getting results cause them to cave in mentally. They do not see any point in continuing and are afraid of total abject failure. Thus, they raise the white flag. It is easier to give up than to fight on. What happens when you do something similar, but not to the point of giving up totally? Take some time off when you are hitting brick walls. Stop fighting so hard and give your mind and body a break. It can help you refocus on your goals. Come back recharged, and take on the problems with fresh gusto. Just remember to come back though.
4. Take it easy on yourself
I am intensely self-critical. This is a common trait of one who tries to be perfect. It does help in certain ways when you are looking for solutions to otherwise difficult problems. But you -can- be too critical and end up with negativity. Along the way, I have learnt to take myself less seriously. Laugh when you make a mistake, do not take it to heart. Find the silly side of it and then deal with the issue. It can work wonders for your confidence and success.
5. Reward yourself
The best person to motivate you is yourself. And that can be done easily through little rewards when you -have- done well. Grab your favourite dish, give yourself a little gift, or simply boost your confidence by giving yourself a little pat on the back. These are all little ways of boosting your positive attitude towards life.
6. Stay away from negativity
Unfortunately, to be successful, you have to surround yourself with success in every aspect. The mind tends towards its surroundings. If you have a network that is cynical, distrustful and negative, look yourself in the mirror and you will see the exact same manifestation. With a network that is positive, chirpy and helpful, you will view everything with more optimism and belief. The same goes for the books you read, the shows that you watch - anything that can shape your belief system.
7. Think positive
This is a commonly suggested method from self-help gurus and practitioners. I subscribe to it, although I feel the nurturing of it can be strengthened if you adopt the other methods described here. You need something to get you started laying positive mental spins on things - perseverance, a positive network and environment - they can all contribute.
The next time when results are not going your way and motivation levels are burning low, take a look at this list. Are you doing everything you can to push yourself further, to relight the fire? There are ways described here to simply go head-on against your obstacles, or take steps back to regroup and end up ahead of the game. You have also learnt how to build all the necessary environment in which to grow and have the resources to fall back on when you need some motivation. What are some of your own methods that have been successful in lifting your spirits through difficult times?

2Good tips. Especially #1. It’s the believe of some new bloggers, where launching a blog means instant flow of cash.
