Posted by YC as Announcements, Make Money Online
So Joanne The Laidback Buddhist chanted her wicked mantra on a whole bunch of friends to join in this activity and I feel greatly honoured to have been included! While this blog is mainly about Internet Marketing and making money online, I will not hesitate to join in any good cause if I can be up to the mark. At the risk of losing some readers, I do hope you will all bear with me. Perhaps you can even learn something useful despite this post being slightly off-topic.
So, October 15 (today) is Blog Action Day, and the theme this year is on the Environment. Anything to do with it, right?
Ok, here’s what I am going to write about. The title just about sums it up really.
How can we make money online the environmentally sound way? I present to you 4 of the best ways.
1. Article marketing
One of the most powerful, yet increasingly less practised methods to making money online. You simply write lots of good quality articles which provides some solutions to people’s problems, include a link to your sites (whether they sell something or not), and submit them to a bunch of article directories. I know of at least one experienced affiliate marketer who built his career on this alone, and he is now top of the heap in the world. How does this help the environment? Instead of posting a bunch of ads in newspapers and the Yellow Pages killing trees, article marketing (to my understanding) is done digitally. No paper, no dead trees.
2. Sell ebooks
Despite many quarters sounding the death knell for the ebook as an online money spinner, it is still going strong. Let’s face it - what can be easier than paying a couple of dollars for something you get delivered to your mailbox in seconds, and possibly learn a bunch of new ’secrets’ at the same time? Plus, ebooks are really easy to create. And PDFs do not use paper, the last time I checked. Shame on you if you printed them out.
3. Advertising networks - Adsense, Bidvertiser, WidgetBucks
And the list goes on. Again, they are not your typical advertising medium passed down from generations. All it takes for you to make money off them is people clicking on them. Some of them look worse than traditional newspaper ads. The rest have great appealing aesthetics yet sometimes do not offer greater CTR’s compared to simple text ads. Again, no paper, the trees are alive.
4. News Networks
Well, I really mean Voxant Newsroom. I am having decent results from it even though it is not pulling in the big bucks like others have enjoyed. You can make potentially a good amount with this if your site has HUGE traffic figures. It kills 2 birds with 1 stone environmentally - both news and ads are delivered digitally. If you don’t believe me, scroll right down to the bottom of this page and play the video! The hills are alive with the sound of money.. uh, I mean singing trees.
There you go - 4 of the best and greenest ways to make money online. I do hope that you take this seriously despite the light-hearted tone I employed. I am not the most environmentally aware person so I thought it best to spice things up while combining the two concepts.
The best bit would be if all these paid out using PayPal, and not via check. Afterall, you know what checks are made of!
I really hope some of you can subscribe to my RSS feed and give me some support if you enjoyed this post!

3I love the idea of ebooks and only wish more of my professors would go for more e-textbooks. Books come out with a new edition practically every year and the prices are ridiculous!
