As bloggers, what we really do everyday is to write. We blog to communicate our thoughts or push ideas to others, and to do that well, it is imperative that we equip ourselves with knowledge on the written word. Emma of It’s Write Now helps you boost your vocabulary in an outrageously fun way, provides publishing and marketing tips, and even talks a fair bit on how to make money from blogging to advertising.

Now, can Emma be your English teacher?
Nope, she can be much more. First of all, I am willing to bet that most of your English teachers never taught you in practise, how to write and communicate at the same time. Emma’s lucid stream-of-consciousness writing style is very personable, and you actually feel like you are engaged in a first person conversation. If you thought learning words would bore the living daylights out of you, Emma spices it up with much interactivity - which I would go into a bit later.
What has learning to write got to do with making money?
With It’s Write Now, plenty!
I have always liked blogs that do not just talk about the ways you can make money, but with details on the how’s and their own personal experiences. Emma shares a lot of the different methods which she has tried and tested. Not only that, she records her blog’s progress in terms of traffic and growth as well. It is interesting to see just how far Emma has come after only 5 months!
It’s Write Now even gets in the mix by showing you how to make money by giving away money! We all know that holding contests and offering cash prizes or nifty gadgets help to generate a huge buzz, with resultant traffic increases, which is critical in the online money making process. Emma has 2 flagship contests - a New Word Monday where you stand to win $20 each time, just by using the words you learn on It’s Write Now, and answering the occasional bonus questions in blog posts which entitles you to a spot on her blogroll at the moment. It is evident that these are ingenious methods to encourage greater interactivity on her blog, and something which continually draws her readers back. This is also a constant characteristic of many of her posts, where she asks for her visitors’ opinions.
On top of that right now, Emma is also involved in 2 other contests in which you stand to win beautiful iPod Nanos, one held on her blog to celebrate its 3 month anniversary, and the other on Problogger in which she is a sponsor. Just that one post on her blog contest has generated such massive interest and response - 145 comments! This contest ends on Halloween so it is still not too late to get your foot in.
Will I keep going back for more?
No doubt about it - certainly! I have yet to finish all the 100+ posts, and there are many that feature other interesting blogs, blog posts and other interesting tidbits from Emma. Some of the best blogs I am reading daily have been through her recommendations. It’s Write Now is constantly updated with fresh content, and the short and concise manner they are written in really contributes to its readability. Its design also features one of the cleanest layouts I have ever come across on a blog - uncluttered and extremely navigable.
What I would like to see more
More word posts! I used to love to read and write, and somehow that love was diluted when I joined the corporate world. Since I left and started blogging, I have rediscovered this passion and begun romancing wordplay again. I would be the first to cry for joy if Emma mesmerises us with more geeky vocabulary bootcamps. Of course, then New Word Monday might have to be changed and more $20’s given out. :)
Lastly, I think the site should deserve a more attractive logo. Sure enough, the content really outclasses everything, but it would really add to the aesthetics and branding if the logo would jump out at you when visiting the site. In fact, coming up with this point made me look at my own blog logo and it’s about time I came up with something better too! Thanks Emma! :)
Hopefully, the next time I visit It’s Write Now it will be another cool vocabulary snippet, and not that Emma has sold her site. :) But if you have yet to drop by, hop over now to It’s Write Now and learn how to write and make money at the same time!

4@ Emma - No worries Emma! I really enjoy your blog - keep it up with the content - the rest you can dedicate time to work on step-by-step - I’m sure in no time everything will be fully in place! :)
Oh yes, the contest is over in my eyes - I’m a shoo-in for the iPod. ;)
@ Donald - That’s what I think too - fully enjoyable read!
