Reading other blogs can do 2 things to you - bringing that extra pump in motivation or dragging you down through depths of despair. This is more than often the case in the make money online niche. Many bloggers start out in this niche dreaming of hitting that vein of gold. Eventually most retire before hitting the finish line, all cynical and denouncing everything as pipe dreams that quick buck makers spin on unsuspecting beginners.
Honestly, I started out and took the plunge after experiencing some success in affiliate marketing. Yet I did not like that focus as I struggled to find products that I believed in and could market to others. Being stubborn, I plumped for a niche where I could indulge in my love for writing and marketing. Along the way, I also learnt that it was not the amount of information that you pick up, but how much action you put into what you do learn.
It has been a couple of weeks since I came across Garry Conn’s blog. Now, Garry does not make much money from his personal blog, even though he writes quite a bit on how to do so. He has shared his methods and insights on how and what he does to make money online. Time and again he repeats his concepts on how he manages to achieve that, and really, how you can also do the same.
For those who have struggled to leverage on Adsense to make any money online, I suggest that you read Garry’s blog closely and apply some of his concepts. Together with Chessnoid’s advice, I have in the past few days implemented what I learnt from these 2 guys (funnily Chessnoid’s blog is the furthest from this niche you can imagine), and achieved some delightful results just by:
Experimenting in the last week on top of Garry’s revenue models, I would say that anyone can really make money online with Adsense. Previously I only had mediocre results with it and I discovered the main issue was in not picking out the right niches to use Adsense on. Currently, it only takes me less than an hour each day to set things up, and the couple of quarters dropped in my coffers from every other person (as Garry is fond of saying in different ways) are adding up nicely.
Of course these are early days yet, but I am encouraged enough to talk about it. Granted that my trials have been confined to local markets (as I understood the demands better), but if I could discover a few more niches that worked just as well, it would add further diversification in my online money making portfolio. I would imagine that Garry’s model does require quite a bit of maintenance, especially in the beginning. But take note of what he mentioned with regards to the amount of ’socialising’ really needed on these - which cuts down a lot of the common demands that a blogger in a make money online niche otherwise faces.
So, before you give up on any revenue model - remember that if it has not been working for you, it does not mean that it won’t work forever. It could just require certain improvements or change in strategies. In doing so, your dream of making money online won’t just be smoke drifting away from that little weed pipe.

2@ Chessnoid - You’re welcome bro! I was hoping there would be more improvements in the Alexa ranking lol! But I’ll take anything given to me now, given the slightly lower productivity at the moment. ;)

3I think that making money online simply taqkes the same dedication as you would find in any business venture. The problem with monetizing a blog is that it’s not passive income. I want to be able to go on a nice vacation without worrying about losing my entire readership in 30 days!

4@ Lewis - It can be done, just bring your laptop along! :) But if your readership is loyal, just inform them ahead of time and they’ll return when you’re back - if you have great content, I don’t see why not!
