Just to highlight some interesting posts and news the past day or so that I came across in the blogosphere:
SiteFever.com has a couple of thought-provoking posts on how Google seems to be dealing with paid text links. Be sure to check out his first video post where he talks about how to break down your goals into conversions.
Shaun Low put together a list of 10 things that all of us bloggers should try to avoid in order not to piss readers off.
For bloggers who are still trying to prioritize blog monetizing through Adsense, Derek has a fascinating insight on his secret to earning more with Adsense. I doubt that it would work for most people, but it does raise some curious thoughts in my mind.
There has also been a Wordpress 2.2 series security upgrade - version 2.2.3. I suggest that you perform the upgrade since it relates to security bug fixes, but ensure that you have a proper backup of your site prior to doing it. Find out more about the upgrade and installation instructions here. Also, do remember to check your dashboard regularly on the latest news. It was my virgin upgrade today - not sure if it was done right but my blog seems to be OK… so far. ;)
Oh, and if you are adverse to doing it the hard way, the Wordpress Automatic Upgrade plugin might help. I don’t use it myself (don’t ask me why I prefer to do it manually), but Tim Spangler recommends it.

1I’m also a little scared to try the automatic upgrade. I prefer to have more control over my files and do it manually. :)

2Thanks for the mention of my post on the AdSense earnings. As Chris mentioned, I too am one that prefers to do the manual upgrades on WP although I am usually bad about disabling all of my plugins first.

3@ Chris - I think my ‘habit’ comes from my previous IT career - check and re-check (manually) - can’t leave things to chance automatically ;)
@ Derek - cheers! I did not put up that ‘maintenance’ plugin, which on hindsight isn’t good practise but my site isn’t all that well-trafficked yet so… ;)
