As part of Home with Heather turning a year old, I have been tagged by both Josh and herself for a meme to share a little bit more about myself. I don’t normally do memes anymore, but for this special occasion I will gladly take part. :) Heather and Josh are 2 bloggers and online marketers whom I respect a lot - their blogs are great reads so drop by if you haven’t done so already.

I’m not sure if people do want to know more about a crazy Chinaman from a little dot on the world map, but here goes:

1. How long have you been blogging?
Seriously, just over 2 months.

2. What inspired you to start a blog and who are your mentors?
I was looking for ways to make money online. What I did was to test several methods and determine which were legit and would fit my style and passion. At the end of the day, blogging, or at the very least the use of blogging platforms, suited my love for writing and sharing. They are not too much different from normal websites yet are designed perfectly for content provision. And blogs could be monetized as much. Furthermore it was really fun to speak my mind across a wide range of topics and issues.

I have no mentors per se, because I had no idea who were the real authorities. I just picked up stuff here and there - pretty much how I am used to doing things throughout life. Even now, I do not regard anyone as a mentor - more as fellow bloggers and friends who believe in sharing our ideas.

3. Are you trying to make money online, or just doing it for fun?
Yes I am, and making just a little. Things are slowly moving in the right direction. While not doing it for fun, but I like to do it with fun!

4. Tell me 3 things you LOVE about being online
I get to know people from all over the world with the same passions. Everyday I learn something new and fascinating about anything anyone could think of. Finally, it might not appear so now, but working and being online will bring rewards equivalent to the amount of effort put in. I actually work harder now and enjoy it more compared to when I had a day job.

5. Tell me 3 things you STRUGGLE with in the online world
Quite a number, but I’ll stick to these 3 - I cannot do graphics/design for nuts, there is just too little time yet so many things I wish to accomplish (prioritization cannot be more true) and the realization that while true friendships can be forged online, the fact that sometimes both parties will never meet in person means when either disappears due to one circumstance or another, it brings sadness as real as in the offline world.

Alright! So next I will tag 6 friends to do the same. I’ll pick those whom I think might participate and have not shown up in other lists. Hopefully they’ll take part and have fun at the same time:

  • Chessnoid - a true friend
  • Joanne - as laid back a friend I’ve ever met, but no less sincere and intense
  • Ken - wise words flow from this young man’s mind
  • Rob - I still owe him on my design change wishes :) but I’d love to see if he could get colorful with these questions and have fun at the same time
  • Kate - an amazing writer, and as helpful a friend as you could ever wish for
  • Chris - Money floats in this friend’s home, and I think he is a very underrated blogger and certainly knows the way
